Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample

Since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you (2 Thessalonians 1:6).
Are you waiting upon the Lord to recompense those who afflict you?
God's saints have been persecuted through the ages. Paul tells the Roman saints, which applies to all of us, to be "patient in tribulation" (Romans 12:12). We are to seek peace with all people, knowing that the righteous Lord will right the wrongs done to us. "Beloved, do not avenge yourselves," advises Paul, "but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, 'Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,' says the Lord" (Romans 12:19). The verb in 2 Thessalonians 1:6 translated "to repay" literally means to give back. Biblical history teaches us that God gives back to the Pharaoh of the Exodus, Haman the Jew-hater in the Book of Esther, and those who sought to destroy Daniel, justice in the end.
Employment Point: Wait upon God to repay those who trouble you.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions helps readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word.
