Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample

For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep (1 Thessalonians 4:15).
Are you anticipating the imminent return of Jesus?
Paul's belief "that Jesus died and rose again" (1 Thessalonians 4:14) bolsters his confidence that Jesus will return. The verbs "died" and "rose again" are in the active voice. That is, Jesus willingly laid down His life and raised Himself from the dead just as He predicted (John 10:17-18). Twice the apostle uses the word "we," including himself in the Rapture (1 Thessalonians 4:15, 17). Paul believes that he could be alive when "the Lord Himself will descend from heaven" (1 Thessalonians 4:16). Church-age saints who die before the Rapture immediately go to heaven (2 Corinthians 5:8). These departed saints will return with Jesus to meet us (1 Thessalonians 4:17).
Employment Point: Daily live for Jesus, while anticipating His return.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions helps readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word.
