Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample

Go the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise (Proverbs 6:6).
Are you a diligent worker like the ant?
God loves work; we begin the Bible learning about His work during the first six days of creation. Our heavenly Father found satisfaction in labor. Moses records what God did after day six. He writes, “Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good” (Genesis 1:31). Moreover, the Lord blesses Adam by placing him in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:8-15). We are privileged to work and provide for our needs and that of our family. Indeed, a good work ethic is just what the thief needs to replace a bad habit. Paul counsels, “Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need” (Ephesians 4:28).
Employment Point: Maintain a good work ethic to please God and to serve others.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions helps readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word.
