Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal (1 Corinthians 13:1).
Are you using your spiritual gift with the attitude of love?
Paul states multiple hyperboles (overstatements) to make his point that love is more important than spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 13:1-3). He didn’t possess “all mysteries” and “all knowledge” and “have all faith” (1 Corinthians 13:2). Yet if he did and didn’t minister with love, the entire work would be fruitless. Spiritual gifts, which are a supernatural ability given by God to believers at the moment of salvation to build up the body of Christ, are temporal. They exist for a time, but love is eternal. That’s why Paul shares, “And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the great of these is love” (1 Corinthians 13:13).
Employment Point: Serve the body of Christ, using your spiritual gifts with love.
