Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample

Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall (Proverbs 16:18).
Are you humbly walking with God?
Pride surfaces by not living in the fear of the Lord. “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; pride and arrogance and the evil way,” writes the wise man (Proverbs 8:13). Micah declares the following: “He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you, but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8). Whereas pride leads to destruction, those who live in the fear of the Lord are blessed. Peter expresses the importance of replacing pride for humility. He writes, “and be clothed with humility, for ‘God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble’” (1 Peter 5:5). Those who exalt themselves will be humbled (Proverbs 16:18) and those who humble themselves, God exalts (1 Peter 5:6).
Employment Point: Humbly walk in fear of the Lord to avoid falling.
