Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneSample

Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time (1 Corinthians 15:8).
Have you considered the evidence in Paul’s defense of Jesus’ resurrection?
Our Lord first appears to Mary Magdalene after conquering death (Mark 16:9). Yet Paul doesn’t include her in his list of witnesses. He is establishing a legal defense of Jesus’ resurrection. Sadly, a woman’s testimony is considered invalid during the first century. Imagine the courtroom scene. Paul calls over five hundred eyewitnesses who had seen Jesus after He is crucified. The jury wouldn’t have to rely upon circumstantial evidence in this case. Then the last witness is Paul himself, who at one time persecuted the church. He carries a powerful testimony because of his former hostilities toward Jesus and Christians. Moreover, he is the only eyewitness to see Jesus after His ascension. The host of witnesses encourages us to live for Jesus!
Employment Point: Boldly proclaim the gospel because Jesus is alive.
