Prophecy and Promise: Devotions from Time of GraceSample

There Will Be Joy
I don't think I know anybody who doesn't get depressed occasionally. Some of my friends seem down more than up, and some friends need medication to keep them from falling completely into an emotional black hole. Many, many people feel bad a lot. Bad enough to shut down. Bad enough to avoid other people. Bad enough to drink too much. Bad enough to hate themselves and their lives. Bad enough to want to end it all.
It makes me very happy just to think of how their first day in heaven will go, their first day without depression. The air will taste sweet, and they will want to sing again. If you struggle too, listen to God's promise: "I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered. . . . I will . . . take delight in my people; the sound of weeping and of crying will be heard . . . no more" (Isaiah 65:17,19).
Hang on, brother! It's only a little farther. Hang on, sister! You can do it. We're almost there. Don't give up!
