Prophecy and Promise: Devotions from Time of Grace

DAY 30 OF 37

There Will Be Apostasy and False Prophets

Still more bad news. It's bad enough that people have to suffer physically. But the evil one will also attack people's souls. He will make unbelief look attractive to some believers and persuade them to lose interest in the faith. All of us who love the church, its worship and fellowship, its learning and outreach, want so badly to see steady, constant growth in numbers. We would like to think that someday everybody will be converted to faith in Christ.

So would Jesus. But as he looked into the future, both of his disciples and yours, this is what he saw: "At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people" (Matthew 24:10,11).

Faith in Christ keeps you mentally and spiritually healthy. If people throw away their faith, they get sick inside. Sick people hate and abuse others. Spiritually sick people will try to seduce others into their sickness, which of course leads to spiritual death. Now you know. Heads up.
