If we were God, there are a lot of ways this story could have ended. Maybe we would just scrap our creation and start over. Maybe we would tell off Adam and Eve and be done with them. Those would make sense, but it's not how God responds. The inevitable consequences of their choice can seem harsh but don't miss where grace is at work too.
Not only does God continue his relationship with Adam and Eve, but he makes good promises to them of better days to come (3:15); he even sacrifices an animal to make clothes to cover their nakedness. Even here, God is working in grace to comfort and protect his people.
