FREEDOM40 - 40-Day Men’s Challenge to Live in FreedomSample

DAY 25
REFLECT + FOCUS
People are desperate for hope. With depression and anxiety rates in the world increasing each year, there is a mad quest for hope in life; or a desperate attempt to not think about it.
As believers - in the Holy Spirit - we have the source of eternal hope Himself living in us.
Listen to this wonderful, but challenging, promise in Romans chapter 5:
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.
Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
Romans 5:1-5 NIV
We have all hoped for things and been disappointed. Perhaps an opportunity regarding education or a job; perhaps a relationship. Perhaps we even hoped for things we thought God had directed us to, or promised us - but it didn’t come out the way we had hoped.
If we have been disappointed in hope - be assured that it was not “this hope”; the hope of the glory of God never disappoints us! It actually strengthens us more and more to persevere through every trial, tragedy and temptation. It refines our character.
It is all fueled by having God’s love poured out daily into our hearts by the Holy Spirit.
SHOUT
As you declare today’s powerful promise, ask God to show you more about the hope of the glory of God. Ask Him for the grace to stand in it, and receive the love of God that the Spirit pours out into your heart.
We rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.
This hope does not disappoint.
Romans 5, verse 2 and 5
