Spending Time in the Word of God
Psalm 119:89-91 (the Message) "What you say goes, God, and stays, as permanent as the heavens. Your truth never goes out of fashion; it's as up-to-date as the earth when the sun comes up. Your Word and truth are dependable as ever;"
God's word is as true today as it was when it was written. It applies directly to our lives, especially in the days we live in. God's truth doesn't change; it remains the same. If we continue to seek his direction and follow along the path He leads, our lives will be blessed with His glory & presence. It doesn't matter if we are facing the giants of the old testament or the giants of today. We are to love - that doesn't mean we have to accept, embrace, or glorify things of this world. Follow God's direction.
God's word is still the roadmap for our lives. When we are faced with uncertainty, look to God's word - it is the constant in our lives. As we face decisions in our lives, whether big or small, we can always rely on the hope found in the word of God. God’s word is evidence of the faithfulness of God to God’s people time and time again.
When we devote intentional time to the Word of God, it will begin to change our hearts and minds. Our words, thoughts, and actions align more with the Kingdom's values than the world's values. We begin to act out of an overflowing spirit of love and grace, just as we see in the life of Jesus.
Reflection Question:
- How can I intentionally make time for the Word of God in my life?
