Start the Party - High SchoolSample

The phrase “poor in spirit” means to live in awareness of who we are and who we aren’t. Another way to say it would be not to take yourself too seriously or think of yourself more highly (or badly) than you should. In other words, don’t think less of yourself, but think of yourself less. Jesus says we are blessed when we do this because when we see ourselves rightly, we see the world around us rightly. We can better see where God is working and where we can join God’s kingdom. If we are too caught up in ourselves, we’ll miss it! The Kingdom of God is so much bigger and so much better than we know, and if we only focus on ourselves, we’ll miss it! Spend a few minutes praying and asking for God’s help and guidance to see yourself and God’s kingdom more clearly and the role you can have in it.
