Farming looked different in Jesus' day than it does now. No tight and tidy rows, limited plowing equipment, and definitely no irrigation. Just a dude and pouch of seeds side-arming here, there, and everywhere as he goes. When the sower was done, it was done. No blogs about botany or morning weather forecasts, no library on how to seed the soil any better. Just went where he went. Sowed what he had. Then waited.

As you listen in today with how Jesus said it, listen too for how you've been making it more complicated (and less rested) than it needs to be. Back away from your need to have a method of evangelism or game plan for discipleship. Just notice your field (your circle of influence) and notice your seeds (that which Jesus has done and his gospel has grown - especially in you), and then imagine sowing that field as you go. Seeds don’t grow everywhere they land; your vision is that they’ll grow in at least one place (or person) they land in.
