I Am

DAY 2 OF 4
“If you want to change the direction of your life, change the declaration of your lips.”
— Steven Furtick
Is there something in your life you wish you could change? Your marriage, attitude, income, children, etc.? Your tongue may have led you to where you are today because your mouth contains the power of life and death.
I used to be a drama queen blasting severe criticisms, regularly gossiping, labeling people harshly with my judging attitude, and tearing others and myself down. I would say, "She is rude; he is a horrible person; I am stupid; I am unworthy; they are unworthy, and on and on. But you see, I did not know who I was in Christ! I could not tame my tongue because my mind was unrenewed. My brutal tongue resulted in the painful loss of relationships and favor. My mouth and my stinkin' thinkin' led me here! If you can relate, I can guarantee your tongue leads to a similar dead end.
Our words come from a well of stinkin' thinkin' or a heart of gratitude. Have you seen two people going through similar hardships, yet one responds with pity and the other with joy? which person do you want to be known for?
We have far too important of a mission to live how I was! We must finish strong in our Christ identity.
We must tame our tongues. You know, there is not a single instance where Jesus used the words I AM with something negative.
If only we could follow Jesus' example by speaking only truths of who we are in Christ with God's mighty name – every time!
