Have you ever been at a loss for words when someone opens up to you? It's hard to know just what to say. Not only is it hard to find the right words, but it's also hard not to get attached to the situation or be upset with yourself for not getting it just right.
When we don't have the right things to say or know the right thing to do, thankfully, God always does. God is our strength and will give us the right words. Sometimes that means we share the silence with those that are hurting. It's actions like these where we bring genuine comfort and understanding. They're sustainable acts of compassion. God will prepare us for those moments and sustain us in every situation.
If you're tired of comforting someone, spend some time in God's presence today. Let that time fill you up, and thank God for sustaining you.
