If you've ever seen any Disney movie, you'll be able to name a sidekick. The main character is presented with a problem, and then there is a sidekick who joins them on the journey. They help them get to their goal and ultimately save the world. Think about Buzz and Woody from Toy Story. Woody feels threatened by Buzz, and Buzz is reluctant to help the crew of toys, but they both work together to help save the day.
Walking with friends experiencing a tough time can sometimes feel like this. It can be scary because you don't know precisely how to be there for them, you're worried about getting involved in a messy situation, or you feel like you won't have the right thing to say. All of that is entirely okay, and you don't have to put yourself in harm's way like Buzz or Woody — you only have to love, encourage, and pray for them.
God comforts us so we can comfort others. Ask God for comfort as you comfort others today.
