The Book of Romans: A 16 Day DevotionalSample

In this chapter of Romans, we learn that the Word of Faith brings salvation.

“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (v. 9).

The confession that Jesus is Lord is paramount to one’s salvation, in that no one can truly receive Jesus as Savior without recognizing Him as Lord – the Supreme Authority in their life! This happens when we surrender our will and embrace His. This is exactly what happened in the gospel of Luke when the thief on the cross recognized Jesus’ authority and Kingship! His faith, at that moment, earned him a place in eternity with Jesus.

Verse 17 says that faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the Word of Christ. The definition of the word "faith" means ‘something you believe to be true and trustworthy.’ Do you believe what you read in your Bible? Do you consider those words to be true and trustworthy?

In Acts 16 Paul & Silas, imprisoned, had their chains come loose and all the prison doors were opened due to a violent earthquake. The jailer awoke and saw the prison doors open and was about to kill himself thinking all the prisoners had escaped.
After calling out that they were still all there, the jailer brought out Paul & Silas and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” (v. 31) They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved – you and your household.” Then they spoke the Word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. He tended their wounds and indeed his whole house believed! Is your house in order?

Reflection
If we aren’t proclaiming the message of the Gospel to our friends, and to our families, then what are we doing with it? From whom will they hear the message, if not you? While it is essential that we have faith, we must take that message to the world! How will you share the most precious gift of all if you don’t speak up!
