Psalms: Window to Our Souls, Part 2Sample

Daniel is in exile in Babylon and is trying to follow Yahweh's ways. God loves Daniel (Dan 9:23). God gives Daniel favor in the eyes of his captors. He gives Daniel the ability to interpret dreams. And He saves Daniel from a fiery furnace and lion's den. In Daniel 7, Daniel dreams a vision that is violent and frightening and other-worldly. As you read about the vision, focus on the Ancient of Days and the one described as a "son of man." That is the moniker that Jesus uses to refer to Himself. In contrast to the violence of the beasts and the horns, notice how the Son of Man is presented to the Ancient of Days on a cloud and is given dominion over all peoples. The Ancient of Days gives the kingdom to the Son of Man and the people of the Most High.
Take a moment to reflect on why Jesus called himself the 'son of man.' He is the perfectly righteous human who did not use might and violence to ascend into power. He chose to obey and suffer the cross and waited for the Father to exalt Him. Do I exhibit these Kingdom values in my life? Like Daniel and Jesus, do I choose meekness over might?
