Ask Seek Knock - Sermon on the MountSample

Jesus gathered His disciples and followers on the side of a mountain and taught them about God’s Kingdom. We call this His Sermon on the Mount. We read this teaching in Matthew chapters 5-9 and here discover foundational lessons for our Christian lives. Jesus talked about the blessings of God’s Kingdom - the beatitudes, about loving others, and then He spoke about prayer.
Prayer is simply talking with God. We can talk to God at anytime and anywhere; He is always listening. Jesus teaches us to ask, seek and knock. When we ask it will be given to us, when we seek, we will find and when we knock the door will be opened.
Jesus shares an example about a parent caring for their child. If their child asks them for bread, they wouldn’t give them a stone instead. Parents love and care for their children and want to give them good things! Jesus says, “How much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him!” We are God’s children, and He cares for and loves us.
Ask and it will be given to you.
