Ask Seek Knock - Sermon on the Mount

DAY 6 OF 15

Jesus gathered His disciples and followers on the side of a mountain and taught them about God’s Kingdom. We call this His Sermon on the Mount. Jesus taught about prayer. Prayer is simply talking with God. We can talk to God at any time and anywhere; He is always listening. Jesus teaches us to ask, seek and knock. When we seek God, we will find Him.

There are lots of reasons we seek or look for things, and we use different tools to help us. Binoculars help us see things clearly that are far away. Bird watchers use them to seek feathered friends in the wild. Sports commentators use them to keep up with the action of a match or race. Sailors use their binoculars to seek out land or breaching whales among the waves. Scientists use microscopes to seek out tiny organisms that you would never be able to see with only your eyes. They can see the tiniest details, even down to the cells. Using a microscope, a scientist can find amazing discoveries about the human body, animals, or plants.

How can someone seek God? We don’t need binoculars or a microscope to find God. We can seek God through prayer. When we pray and talk to God, we are seeking Him. We seek His will, we seek His direction, we seek His comfort, and best of all we seek to get to know Him more. Reading God’s Word helps us seek Him, as every part of the Bible tells us more about who God is and who we are. We learn about His nature, power, and love. We seek God when we come to church, and as part of a church family, we see God at work in the lives of others, we serve Him and worship together. We can seek God when we marvel at His amazing creation, and when we see the way He has made us and the world around us, we get a glimpse of His majesty. Seek and you will find.
