You can relax when you chat to God. He understands you, knows how you experience stuff and what your deepest needs, desires, and even your thoughts are. Psalm 139:1-2 He pays attention to you and He hears you when you pray. Deuteronomy 4:7 & 1 John 5:15

God’s Spirit helps you

The Holy Spirit, living in your heart, will help you to pray according to God’s will. Romans 8:26-27

A little bit of faith is enough

Jesus says even when you pray with just a little bit of faith, big things can happen. Matthew 17:20 When you wholeheartedly put your faith in God, you please Him. Hebrews 11:6 & Matthew 21:22

What blocks your prayers?

There are things that can block your prayers from getting answered, such as:

• deliberate sin in your life

John 9:31 

Note: This verse refers to those who deliberately sin and decide not to put an end to it (DAY 14).

• being involved with things that grieve God 

1 Peter 3:12

• selfishness

James 4:3

• when your heart is not focused on Him

Jeremiah 29:13

• and unforgiveness.

Colossians 3:13

When you obey God’s Word, He listens to your prayers. Matthews 6:14-15 & John 15:7

Beware! Unforgiveness is one of the biggest reasons why God’s children’s prayers are not answered. It’s only fair to forgive (DAY 5).

Most important time of the day

Don’t skip your time with God. Just as it is important to eat food daily for physical strength, you have to get spiritual strength on a daily basis by spending time with God.

Choose a time and place where you will not be interrupted. Early morning is usually best.

Prayer tips

You can learn a lot from how Jesus talked to His Father:

• Make time to pray

Mark 1:35

• Pray for wisdom before making decisions

Luke 6:12-13 

(Jesus talked all night to God before He chose His disciples)

• Pray for other people 

Luke 22:31-32

• Pray according to God’s will

Lord, thank You that I can talk to You regularly about everything in my life. Help me also to pray effectively for others and to avoid anything that might block my prayers—in Jesus’s name, amen.
