You are LOVED

We can often get the wrong picture of God in our minds and think that He is a disciplinarian, much like a school principal or an angry father, waiting in heaven for us to fail. We can picture Him as a judge, waiting to hammer His gavel and give us our punishment like in a courtroom. But that is not who God is. While He is a God of justice, He is also full of love, mercy, and grace. He has already shown us the most sacrificial act of love in all of history.

God sent His own son Jesus to endure the judgment that we deserved, all because He loves us. Can you imagine a father giving up His own son’s life? That would be beyond difficult for anyone to do, but He did it to show how much He loves you. There is no distance, no mistake, no circumstance, nothing you can do that could separate you from the love of God. That’s mind-blowing! His love is not based on conditions; it doesn’t change if you stop loving Him back. He will continue to love you just the same, even if you don’t deserve it. The truth is, none of us deserve His unconditional love. Yet He pours His love on us and calls us His children.

When you can remember who you are and that you are loved by the God of the universe and that nothing can take that away, you will live in the fullness that God desired for you to live.

Prayer: God, thank You for loving me even though I don’t deserve it. Thank You for calling me Your child. Help me to remember that You are for me and that Your love cannot be taken away from me. Amen.
