Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "First Things First"

DAY 15 OF 31

The Bible excerpt we just read talks about Paul when he was first saved by Jesus. Before that, Paul was an evil man, hated by many people. His encounter with Jesus transformed his life.

It is no surprise that at first many people, including Ananias, found it hard to believe that Paul had changed. But God confirmed this change to Ananias and so Paul was God’s chosen instrument to proclaim His name wherever he went. God’s plan came to pass.

Divine intervention often occurs in our lives, just as Paul experienced. From an evil person whom God changed to an evangelist, Paul saved thousands of people because of that encounter he had with God during his life.

There are many ways God can divinely intervene in our lives; either through direct encounters like Paul’s or through various situations in our lives. Our response is crucial for us to be able to grasp His purpose. Learn to be sensitive, see what God has prepared and equip yourself to be used by God as an instrument that brings glory to Him.

Devotion for Parents
Allowing God to intervene means we let God take control of our lives. We let His will be done. It is not easy, especially when we feel that we have a right to our lives.

Look at it this way. Whenever our little ones insist on doing things their way, which we clearly know is doomed to fail, we bite our lips and get upset. Why won’t they let us help? We know better than them. We have more experience.

Has it crossed your mind that God might feel the same way? Aren’t His ways always better and perfect compared to ours? So, why won’t we let Him take control of our lives?

Devotion for Kids
Raise your hand if you feel upset when your parents are controlling and always asking you to do what you don’t like to do.

“I think I can manage. I am more than capable to make my own decisions.” – you might think.

Do you know that your parents know more than you? Their intention is for the best. They have more experience compared to you. So, there’s no harm in listening and obeying them.

It’s the same with God. Sometimes we don’t understand His ways, but He knows what’s best for us, even more than our parents. Let us surrender our lives into His hands and walk according to His will.

Family Devotion Time
What do you think God wants and plans for your family?

Is there a relationship that He wants to restore?

Are there habits that He wants to change?

Allow God to work and leave Him in charge of your family.

Walk together with God.
