THE HOUSE SOLD!

The day my realtor put the FOR SALE sign on my front lawn, my heart sunk. Thoughts were going off in my head a million miles an hour. “What have you done?” “Your church family and friends live here.” “Where are you going to live, Norma?” I felt so helpless.

The first week was slow, so my realtor held an open house. The rule of thumb is that the owner never sees the interested party, but as I drove out my driveway, the potential buyers drove in; they rolled down their window and were very friendly. As we left, I told my sister, “Those people are going to buy my house.”

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.” 1 John 2:15-17

The next day I got a call from my realtor that these people were serious and asked if I would take a little less than the asking price and I agreed.

Before signing, the couple had asked to come into my home to ask me some questions about the house. During this time, I found out they loved the Lord as much as I did. I asked if they minded if I prayed, and they welcomed it. Right there in our foyer, I prayed and thanked God for the home that gave me so much joy. I asked God to bless it for the new owners that they too would experience great happiness in their new home. Two hours later, we met to sign the final paperwork.

“And we know that for those who love God, all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

While taking my final walk through my home, videotaping the empty rooms, with tears flowing, my mind was going into full transition mode…what will be next for my life? I knew God had a plan!
