GOING TO THE BANK . . . GOD IS OUR RESOURCE

I found my home; now I had to pay for it. Dan had always done the wheeling and dealing with financial affairs. I knew I had to get a mortgage, and I wanted to go through the bank we had dealt with in another state, where Dan and I lived.

I asked my sister-in-law to go with me. I felt confident because I knew the banker who was our former neighbor. Here I was, facing another new situation that threw me out of my comfort zone. Every thought was running through my mind. All the 'what ifs'! Do you ever go through the 'what ifs' in life? I have learned they are just wasting energy. Most of the time, fears, of things we think might happen; do not.

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

The gentleman called us into his office, introduced himself, and began the process. As he entered data in his computer, he asked if I was married to Dan Smith, who worked for the city! I said yes, we were married for 53.5 years. At that moment, my nerves calmed, as I knew again that God was right there with me. He gave me his condolences and became very cordial.

“Give your burdens to the Lord, and He will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” Psalm 55:22

Transitions and change do not come easy. When God is in it, and you put your entire trust in knowing He will be there for you, it lessens the burden of change.
