Day Seven - I am a Good Friend
Welcome to this devotional for kids! Our ‘UP’ series is inspired by our ‘We Will Elevate’ DNA - We practise showing kindness to those around us and never leave anyone out. We value others the way God values us by being a good friend and listener, respecting our leaders and parents, and choosing to always see the good in others.
During this series, we want to truly grasp what it means to honour and elevate those around us - not just those who seem to be popular or are the most important in our lives, but to remember that God wants us to ‘take delight in honouring each other’ that means everyone!

It is clear from this story that this is a group of friends that looked after each other. Good friends stick together through the good times and the bad times!
ASK:
God wants us to be the kind of friend that celebrates one another and enjoys the good times together but also who stays close when friends are struggling.
Our memory verse tells us to love one another with genuine affection, this means that we can really help each other in times of need.
Have you ever had a friend help you when you have been in a time of need?
Think of ways that you might be able to demonstrate love to those around you when they are in need.
We are called to look out for each other just like we read in the story. Maybe you can think of someone in your class at school that often gets left out, or might need some help today. We can value others by never leaving anyone behind.
REMEMBER:
Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honouring each other. (Romans 12:10)
SAY:
Jesus, you show us how to be kind,
No greater love will we find.
Your deep love that gives us great value,
Growing us as we learn more about you.
Our friend, our saviour, our kind teacher,
Helping us see the good in each other.
