Day Six - I am a Good Friend

Welcome to this devotional for kids!  Our ‘UP’ series is inspired by our ‘We Will Elevate’ DNA - We practise showing kindness to those around us and never leave anyone out. We value others the way God values us by being a good friend and listener, respecting our leaders and parents, and choosing to always see the good in others.

During this series, we want to truly grasp what it means to honour and elevate those around us - not just those who seem to be popular or are the most important in our lives, but to remember that God wants us to ‘take delight in honouring each other’ that means everyone! 

Follow along as we truly grasp what it means to honour and elevate those around us!

Picture this for a moment: 

Can you imagine the excitement of the friends when they heard that Jesus was in town, the day they decided to pick up their friend who was not able to walk and carry him, the laughter they would have had as they rushed along, and the joy they had as they came up with the idea to take a risk and lower their friend through the roof? 

ASK:

Good friends bring joy and laughter into our lives. They are the ones that we can share our excitement and adventures with. 

Can you think about some of your friends and why you like them so much? Write a few of these things down because you can encourage them today as you think about this!

Do you think that you are a friend that brings joy and laughter to other people? 

Plan something to do with your friends today, and whatever it is HAVE FUN!

REMEMBER:

Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honouring each other. (Romans 12:10)

SAY:

Jesus, you show us how to be kind, 

No greater love will we find. 

Your deep love that gives us great value, 

Growing us as we learn more about you. 

Our friend, our saviour, our kind teacher, 

Helping us see the good in each other.
