Day Three - I am a Good Friend
Welcome to this devotional for kids! Our ‘UP’ series is inspired by our ‘We Will Elevate’ DNA - We practise showing kindness to those around us and never leave anyone out. We value others the way God values us by being a good friend and listener, respecting our leaders and parents, and choosing to always see the good in others.
During this series, we want to truly grasp what it means to honour and elevate those around us - not just those who seem to be popular or are the most important in our lives, but to remember that God wants us to ‘take delight in honouring each other’ that means everyone!

Yesterday we read about how a group of friends carried the man who could not walk, to a house where Jesus was. This was because they wanted the best for their friend and they knew that Jesus could heal him!
The Bible teaches us to love your neighbour as yourself. This means that we are to treat others in the way that you would like to be treated. God shows us such kindness, and always wants the best for us. We too, can always seek the best in others. This group of friends really showed what it meant to want the best for their friend!
ASK:
Can you think of a time when someone has shown you that they really want the best for you?
Sometimes we don’t always see that what is best for us might not always be what we want - for example; eating a good plate of vegetables might not be what you want but it is the best thing for you!
Take some time to think about how your adults, leaders or teachers want the best for you. How can you show them that you appreciate them today?
Write out a list of all your friends, and take time to pray for them! Why not ask God to show you how you can be the best friend you can to them!
REMEMBER:
Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honouring each other. (Romans 12:10)
SAY:
Jesus, you show us how to be kind,
No greater love will we find.
Your deep love that gives us great value,
Growing us as we learn more about you.
Our friend, our saviour, our kind teacher,
Helping us see the good in each other.
