SOAP – Hebrews 13:15 The writer of Hebrews writes that an essential part of a believer’s worship is praise and thanksgiving. In this passage, praise is called the fruit of our lips. Our speech comes from the abundance of our hearts. Our hearts are penetrated by those things that we meditate on and think about on a daily basis. When we diligently meditate on God’s goodness and love towards us, we can be thankful towards Him in any circumstance. We can thank Him for both the good things and the hard things in our lives, because we know that in the end He will be glorified through it all. In what areas of your life are you failing to speak praises to God? What hard things are you experiencing that prevent you seeing God’s goodness, presence, and love in your life? Will you begin today to thank God for every good thing in your life, no matter how small? Will you begin today to thank God for every hard thing in your life because the hard things expose his mercy and love for you? Father God, I thank You for Your goodness, Your grace, and Your mercy in my life. Forgive me, Lord, for focusing on the things that are wrong in my life and missing Your amazing presence. Lord, take full control of my thought life, and let Your power rule over me. Let the fruit of my lips be sweet like honey and not tart like lemons. Lord, my desire is for thoughts that are pure and holy so that my words will reflect You. Lord, redirect and renew my thinking so that I may experience Your joy and peace no matter what my circumstance. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
