SOAP – Psalm 140:9-11 The psalmist asks the Lord to punish his enemies. Believers can also request that the Lord be our fierce deliverer and rescuer from all of their troubles. Those who love the Lord have the assurance that they are never alone. God remains steadfast and faithful to protect those He loves and calls His own. He remains our protector, our shelter, and our defender. He makes our enemies footstools, but not before He first prepares a banquet for us in their presence. There is a price to pay for seeking to hurt God’s daughters, and we must trust that our God is a righteous and just judge. What enemy are you making larger than God’s power, His majesty, and His love for you? In what situation or circumstance are you tempted to doubt God’s protection of you? Father God, I thank You for hiding me in the shadow of Your wings and protecting me from danger. At times, these enemy attacks of fear and doubt overwhelm me, Lord. Quiet those thoughts and remind me, Lord, of Who You are and Whose I am. Lord, help me to release my desire for revenge and hatred, and allow You to carry out Your judgment on the matter. Help me to pray for my enemies and do good for them. Help me to trust You, Lord, that although I may never witness it, Your judgment and Your fair punishment will surely come. Remind me that You surround me, that You are there to carry me, and that You will deliver me through whatever I am facing. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
