DAY 22 OF 50

Making Sense of it All

Jesus had a close-knit group of disciples that formed His 'inner circle' but they couldn't have been a more disparate group. Thomas was doubtful; Simon was unstable; James and John, his brother, were ambitious; and Judas was unscrupulous. You might find that your team is just as disparate in composition, but you need not fret, this same group (with the exception of Judas) got to a point where it was always said of them that the disciples were in one accord.

The goal in leading any group of people is to establish accord: to get a group of unique individuals to mesh into one team united by one mission, and committed to a set of principles.

To get this to happen in your own organization, prayerfully seek answers to the following questions

  1. Will my example create the culture that I want to see: if everyone in the organization behaves exactly as I do, what culture would we have?

  2.  Am I R.E.A.L.: Can my staff expect the following from me?

Respect

Empathy

Altruism

Loyalty

In the end, a personal example is the most powerful tool for building corporate culture, and unless you can answer question 2 in the affirmative, it is doubtful that the culture in your organization will be God-honoring.

You may want to ask God to help you model these attributes to your team.
