PRAY FOR THE COMMUNITY OF CHRISTIANS IN HOLLYWOOD

PRAY:  Almighty God, please bless the Christians who are living and working in Hollywood. May you make them fruitful and increase their numbers until they become a powerful, visible, loving community there. Would You help the thousands of young creative Christians who arrive in Hollywood every month to gather together in church to talk about and celebrate all that You have done through them. Let them see how You have opened a door of faith to them as Gentiles in a primarily Jewish industry. Let them develop deep relationships with the spiritual leaders discipling them, so that they can grow strong in their faith and create projects of truth and beauty. Oh Lord, only You can gather the Christians, supply leaders for them, and grow them into an eternally influential community of Christ followers and great artists.

REFLECT:  Today's verses offer both an Old Testament and New Testament example of the importance of Christian community. We have to pray that people groups all over the world will have strong communities, for we all need one another. Just as you need your church family, small group, or Bible Study group, the people in Hollywood need one another. Living in a Christian community helps people to grow spiritually, get empowered to more easily share their faith, increase in their numbers, bear more fruit in their lives and work, and become more vulnerable in prayer. And whenever believers move to a new place, the first thing they should do is to find a church and/or Christian community in order to grow roots, develop friendships, and grow in discipleship. Praying for that for others around the world is powerful. God made each of us with the same needs, struggles, and hearts. We just forget that when we live in a different culture. But wherever we are, Christians need other believers to bear fruit, grow, and thrive.

ACT:  Take out a piece of paper and list the prayers that you would like someone to pray for you. I'm sure they include having close Christian friends and family, feeling at home where you are so that you can grow deep roots and be impactful in your community, be a part of an active, loving church, etc. etc. After you're done, then pray for the Christians in Hollywood to experience the same answers to those prayers that you want for yourself. They are all God's children with the same desires, hopes and dreams. Pray those prayers of hope and blessings, regardless of how you feel about their lives or their projects. Know that deep down, the believers in Hollywood need to experience all that God has to offer them in community so that they can impact people around the world with their lives and their shows, films, music and games. Your prayers can make that happen and they need you!
