#JESUS2019 - Daily DevotionalsSample

Did you also have acne problems as an adolescent? You walk into the bathroom in the morning, turn on the light and a giant ulcerous pimple is staring you in the face. How can I get rid of it? Makeup, Clearasil or some natural remedies? Often when we get into the light and see ourselves more clearly under it, we recognize our defects and flaws - this is often very unpleasant.
But light is also very useful in eliminating these flaws. In medical technology the so-called “Scintigraphy” is used for cancer diagnosis. So-called “tracers” (low radioactive substances) are released into the body and accumulate in metabolic rich areas (so-called “hot spots”). The tracers release “gamma radiation” and by means of a “gamma camera” a spatial image is created. This way centres of inflammation can be localized in the body very accurately. This is because in the inflamed area the metabolism functions faster. However, enhanced metabolic activity can also point to a tumor, and a decreased activity may be an indication of dead tissue.
Such technology can truly fascinate us, because it saves lives. It is a “light of life”. In the same way, Jesus wants to be the light that saves you from spiritual death.
Now we can better understand what Jesus states here: “I am the light of the world.”
Some of you do many things in the dark, hidden from your partner, from others, even from yourself. Jesus sees everything and one day everything will come to light and be revealed. This is also the case with the story of humanity, one day everything will be revealed. One day everything will come to light. Live with integrity. Do not act differently when nobody is watching, when you are alone in the dark.
ACTION STEP:
Let’s not hide away like rats and cockroaches when the light is turned on in the basement, because by doing this we only harm ourselves. God’s offer for your life is not #nofilter, but #jesusfilter. When you confess your sins to him, he forgives you and fills your heart with peace. Accept this today.

About this Plan

During the weeks before Easter, we want to acquire deeper understanding of this fundamental event of our faith, get to know Jesus better and experience how his loving deed on the cross can change our lives forever. We will take a closer look at Jesus’ 7 “I am” statements and by doing this, we will find out who Jesus is and what he has to offer us in deeper ways.
