#JESUS2019 - Daily DevotionalsSample

At the Feast of the Tabernacles in Israel, several candle sticks were set up in the women’s temple courtyard and lit at dusk. The light shone over the whole city of Jerusalem at night. This was probably the reason for one of Jesus’ most famous sentences:
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
Jesus says: “I am the light.” And light has an immense power. It drives out darkness, it shines on the path. But it can do even more than that: when you focus light into a beam, this laser is so strong that it can pierce even the strongest metal.
In everyday life we tend to encounter laser beams when we want to remove things, especially things that bother us: varicose veins, birthmarks, superfluous hair or lower-back tattoos.
Some corners in our hearts are similar to a badly drawn lower-back tattoo. You have learned to live with it and most of the time you can hide it quite well under your shirt. Perhaps even your best friends don’t know about it, because you are scared that they will make fun of your youthful transgression. In your daily life you even forget it is there and you don’t think about it. But at some point, when you let someone get close to you or look at yourself in the mirror after a shower, the blue blurry thing on your back becomes visible.
You would actually like to have the old tattoo removed, but you don’t have the cash or the courage. You know it will be painful, you know it will not disappear magically after one session. It will take time and patience. And above all, you need a doctor who you feel comfortable with and who you trust.
How many lower-back tattoos do you have on your heart? And how many dark blue blurry areas that were once painful have you been carrying around with you for far too long? Jesus has the power to erase all their traces. It might hurt. And there will be a cost. But Jesus promises you: Not one pigment, not one scar will remain.
ACTION STEP:
At ICF we have created the “Get Free” sessions to allow Jesus to laser away old ‘tattoos’ from your heart. We’ll be by your side when you take this bold step.
