My Life As A Reality TV Show

DAY 9 OF 15

Today’s passage is pretty short, but that’s because it’s really important. We talked about feeling a climate or temperature when we walk into a room with our family or friends. Sometimes it’s hard for us to recognize that we bring a temperature into the room too. Maybe we are in a bad mood, we’re just super tired and don’t even realize it, or we’re straight up angry with someone in that room. It’s always easier to point a finger at someone else. You might’ve heard the saying, “When you point your finger at someone else, you have three of your own fingers pointed back at yourself.” Go ahead and try it. Call it self-awareness or humility, but something we really ought to do is recognize our contribution to a conversation, relationship or fight. We know we aren’t perfect (and don’t worry, God loves you despite that), but that also means we don’t always treat people the way we should. And sometimes, the things that drive us most crazy about other people are the same things we do ourselves. Today, think about the person in your family who drives you nuts. Then, think about some of your own tendencies or habits that you see in that person. Be honest!
