Spirit of Jesus 

Here is an amazing verse because it refers to the Old Testament prophets and says the Spirit of Christ was in them even before Jesus was born! Yet in 2 Pet.1:21 we are told it is the Holy Spirit who inspired them.  We have here perhaps another intimation of the Trinity as in Rom.8:9 where the phrase “Spirit of Christ” again appears alongside “Spirit of God”. In John 14:16 Jesus promised the coming of the “Spirit of truth” who would be “another Counsellor” – “another” meaning “one just like Me.”  Because the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God and the Spirit of Christ you need not fear that He will lead you to do anything weird because He is just like our compassionate Saviour Jesus – “gentle and humble in heart” (Matt.11:29).

We should not be apprehensive about the Holy Spirit because it is often said that He will not force Himself upon you since He acts like a true gentlemen. In Rev.3:20 Jesus knocks on the door of our hearts and waits for an invitation before entering and enriching our lives. As the Holy Spirit is the “Spirit of Christ” He too will wait for an invitation to be our closest companion.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, I thank You that You are just like Jesus so I trust You as I ask for your supernatural companionship for my life
