Who?

The great question mankind faces is this: “Is there a God and if so what is He (or She!) like?”. By the word God we mean a divine supernatural being or beings. Some religions have no God whilst others have many gods. Some people such as the well known scientist, Richard Dawkins contend that there is no God and they are called atheists. Others say we cannot know if there is a God or not and are referred to as agnostics. The position of an atheist is untenable because until we have explored the entire universe for all visible and invisible life we cannot possibly definitively say there is no God. The word agnostic literally means “ignorant one” because they believe that the existence of God or the supernatural is unknown or unknowable. 

Christianity affirms not only that God exists but that He is knowable and He has made Himself known to us. The Bible is God’s revelation of Himself and His ways. It describes not man’s search for God but God’s search for man. He makes Himself known in various ways but ultimately through the person of Jesus, the visible image of the invisible God (Col.1:15).
