Peer Pressure

In the first chapter of Daniel, we see Daniel’s response to the king’s decree. First of all, he did not succumb to tasting certain foods and drink wine from the king’s table. Daniel’s home was destroyed by the king of Babylon and he was taken into captivity. Though it looked as though God had forsaken him, he stayed faithful to God and his commandments. Secondly, we learn that Daniel sought God’s favour more than man’s favour. He was handsome in appearance and had great knowledge. He possessed that which was required to succeed in the Babylonian king’s court. But, instead of working his way through the ranks, as all the other young men undoubtedly tried to do, he chose to find favour with God by obeying His commandments. He did this rather than doing what was expected of him by the king’s court.

This is very similar to what you may deal with, as you work your way up in the business world today. Decisions like, “Do I stick with my morals, or do what all the others did before me to make my way to the top?” or “Is God really going to care about these minor things which I don’t obey?” Beloved, make a resolution like Daniel to seek God’s favour rather than man’s favour. Above all, seek His presence, rather than the things of the world!

Prayer

“Loving heavenly Father, I thank You for the steadfast spirit You have given me. I pray that I will increase in favour like Daniel with God and man everywhere. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

‘The right position with God put things into place’

Blessing For Today

Every day we must know the plans that the Lord has kept in store for our lives. The Lord has given us His word to reveal His plans to us. He reveals His plans through the word of God as we read it with reverence and prayer. When we hear His voice through our meditation of His word our hearts will burn like fire filled with joy (Psalm 39:3). Then as we follow it with proclamation of those words through the power of the Holy Spirit through our prayer, the blessings of that day will come upon us. Not only the blessings, but the grace of God shall come upon us to carry out that day’s work.  We have compiled the Bible passage for you to read as well as the Lord’s revelation for each day. We pray that through this the Lord may give you the grace to be connected to Him throughout this year.
