Day Five - I Honour Others 

Welcome to this devotional for kids!  Our ‘UP’ series is inspired by our ‘We Will Elevate’ DNA - We practise showing kindness to those around us and never leave anyone out. We value others the way God values us by being a good friend and listener, respecting our leaders and parents, and choosing to always see the good in others.

During this series we want to truly grasp what it means to honour and elevate those around us - not just those who seem to be popular or are the most important in our lives, but to remember that God wants us to ‘take delight in honouring each other’ that means everyone! 

Follow along as we truly grasp what it means to honour and elevate those around us! 

READ: 

A Hole in the Roof in any children's Bible or Matthew 9:1-8.

In this story, the friends carried, traveled, problem-solved, cut a hole in a roof and brought their friend closer to Jesus! We can use our actions to bring honour and value to others!

ASK:

God not only wants us to tell people how much we care for them, He also wants us to show others how much we value them!

My children, our love should not be only words and talk. Our love must be true love. And we should show that love by what we do. (1 John 3v18 ICB)

In the Bible, there are many stories about showing kindness through actions and helping those in need. It also teaches us to help the poor and those who are less fortunate than ourselves. There are many ways that you can show kindness through your actions - but one way is to be on the lookout for those who are in need today!

Maybe you could even think of a fun way to raise money for those in need? A car wash, walk or activity? Write out a few ways in which you might be able to help do something to help others.

REMEMBER:

Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honouring each other. (Romans 12:10)

SAY:

Jesus, you show us how to be kind, 

No greater love will we find. 

Your deep love that gives us great value, 

Growing us as we learn more about you. 

Our friend, our saviour, our kind teacher, 

Helping us see the good in each other.
