Waiting on the Lord
Key Verse : Ezekiel 3:25-26
Waiting on the Lord is hard work. Like, really, really hard work sometimes. But it’s also one of the most valuable practices you will learn in your faith journey. Because waiting on the Lord is a practice of patience, obedience, and tuning in to God’s voice.
I’ve personally counted the cost of not waiting on God, and it’s not worth it. Even if the waiting holds longsuffering and pain, the waiting is always worth it on the other side. Because I’ve been tested here and witnessed the fruits of waiting, I now daily pray for a spirit like Moses in the desert.
When the cloud moved, the people moved. And when the cloud stopped, the people stopped. And waited for God to move again.
Friend, pray for this same spirit of waiting on God. Even when the waiting is hard, hold on.
For the job offer across the country, wait on God for an answer.
For the potential relationship before you, wait on God for an answer.
For the discernment of which college to go to, wait on God for an answer.
Waiting on God, though, doesn’t mean we don’t do anything. You can still act in the waiting. Whatever God has put into your hand in that waiting season, use it for His glory. Serve Him and others, and be diligent with what it’s in your hand.
However, don’t make a big move or decision without talking to Him first and hearing from Him on the matter. So much heartache has come on the heels of rushed decisions or poor timing. Avoid the grief with a listening ear and patient spirit.
It’s always worth it.
