Starting with a blank canvas is sometimes best. As humans, we have presumptions about God. We even presume to know how He will react to our drawing near to Him. This doesn't give Him much space to act or wow us. Remember, in the beginning, God started with nothing and created something He values immeasurably: you and me. So let's quiet our thoughts and give God a chance to move us. He does not just give orders to inform us how to live and obey the rules. Abundant life and fullness are along the path He is wanting to lead us on. So let's ask God to clear the canvas and allow the Holy Spirit to start to paint. 

Allow God to shape your knowledge of Him and be ready to forfeit some of your understanding. Our hurts and sin often blind us to a false understanding of the Father, Son, or Holy Spirit, hindering us from seeing His power and glory displayed through His works in our lives. It's possible to understand something and not know it experientially. Revelation from God is experiential in that He moves us and shapes us personally. He can renew and completely change our knowledge of Himself and therefore reforming our understanding. Start the day by asking the Father to show you or teach you something about Him.
