OPEN HANDS

DAY 7 OF 7

Seven days.

The anatomy of the grip. The three-day walk. The returned pen. The released shape. The caught sinking. The sharpened wait.

You began this with a clenched fist. And now this: the open hand is not empty. It is the hand God fills.

'Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.' Not a little. Wide. As wide as you can. The filling matches the opening.

Every act of release this week: releasing the timeline, the shape, handing back the pen, getting up off the water, everyone has been creating capacity. Widening the hand. Making room.

Hannah opened her hand in the temple and received Samuel. Then five more children after him. The release created abundance, not just adequacy.

Ruth released the shape and received Boaz, and a son named Obed, who became the grandfather of David, who became the ancestor of Jesus. The release positioned her in a story larger than she could have imagined.

The open hand does not receive the minimum.

I don't know yet what goes into my open hands. That's the honest truth on this side of the story.

But I know the grip was costing me things I couldn't see clearly enough to name. And I know that the same God who filled Hannah, positioned Ruth, and saved the Messiah's first public recognition for Anna, that God is not less for me.

Keep the hand open. Not forever at once, just today. Then tomorrow.

The ram is in the thicket. Boaz is in the field. God is not finished. He is just filling what you have finally learned to open.

Reflection: Write a letter to the version of yourself who will receive what you've been waiting for. Tell yourself what this week cost you. Tell her what you learned about God in the releasing. Tell yourself what you want to remember about the open hand.

Closing Prayer: Lord, I open my hands wide today. As wide as I can. I have spent this week practicing the letting go, and I arrive today with more room in me than I had on Day One. Fill it. Fill it with Your presence first, before anything else, fill me with more of You. And then, in Your time, in Your shape, through Your surprising and unanticipated doors: fill me with the desires You placed in me. I trust You with the timeline. I trust You with the how. I trust You with the waiting. I trust You with the receiving. My hands are open. Amen.

About this Plan

OPEN HANDS

You’ve already asked the right question. Not, “How do I stop wanting this?”, because you don’t stop wanting what God placed within you. The real question is: How do I hold a deep desire without being controlled by it? How do I carry a longing without letting it close my hand to everything else? These seven days won’t answer that in theory. They will guide you through it in practice, sometimes with your actual hands, because releasing a timeline is not just a spiritual act. It is physical. It settles in the body before it settles in the soul.
