Why Easter?

DAY 3 OF 4

Resurrection Power in the Present

Easter isn’t only about what happened 2,000 years ago or what will happen when Jesus returns. It’s also about what God is doing in you right now.

Scripture describes us apart from Christ as “dead in trespasses”—physically alive but spiritually unresponsive to God. No amount of self-help, religious rule-keeping, or behavior modification can fix spiritual death. Dead people don’t need a life coach; they need a resurrection.

That’s what God does. Because he is “rich in mercy” and moved by “great love,” he makes us alive with Christ. The same power that raised Jesus from the grave begins raising you from the inside out—awakening your heart to God, softening what’s hard, breaking shame, changing desires, and slowly reshaping your life.

This doesn’t mean instant perfection. It means a new direction and a new power. Addictions, bitterness, fear, and old patterns may not disappear overnight, but they no longer have the final word. You are no longer defined by your past, your failures, or your sin; you are defined by being “with Christ,” raised and seated with him.

The Christian life is not merely about trying harder to be good; it’s about learning to live out the new life potent with new power Jesus has already planted in you.

Reflection Questions:

1. Where do you still feel “dead” or stuck—an addiction, a relationship, a habit, a hidden shame?

2. What might it look like, practically, to invite Jesus’ resurrection power into that specific area today?

Prayer:

God of mercy, thank you that you don’t just offer me rules but new life. I admit there are areas where I feel trapped and powerless. Breathe your resurrection life into those places. Help me believe that in Christ I am no longer dead, but alive. Teach me to walk in the new identity you’ve given me. Amen.

About this Plan

Why Easter?

For many, Easter feels like a strange holiday. There are eggs, bunnies, pastels, and candy—but what is it actually about? Underneath the cultural layers, Easter centers on a bold claim: that Jesus of Nazareth literally rose from the dead.
