Origin,Identity & Purpose

DAY 1 OF 3

The Big Questions: What is my Origin? Who am I? What is the purpose of my life?

To answer these big Existential Questions, we have to go to the "Book of Beginnings," to Genesis.

What is the origin of my existence?

The Book of Genesis paints a wonderful and breathtaking picture of how God created all human beings. He formed Adam, "the first man," from the dust of the ground (the physical aspect/the body). Then we find a beautiful metaphor embodying God breathing into Adam's nostrils the breath of life, so Adam became a living soul (the spiritual aspect). God is the source and origin of all humanity, and He is the fountainhead of everything.

What does ‘made in God's likeness’ actually mean?

Since God is a personal Being possessing absolute free will, an infinite mind, and holy emotions, all human beings, both male and female, were created in His likeness with a limited free will, a finite mind, and emotions.

Since God is the sovereign ruler of the entire universe, He has granted humans the authority and dominion to rule the earth and subdue it always under His ultimate kingship and for His glory.

Since God is a relational and holy being, all humans are created as relational beings, designed to live in relationship with their Creator, one another, the environment, and themselves.

Prayer: Lord of the Universe, I praise and bless You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made in Your likeness. Thank You because You are my source and origin. In Jesus' name, Amen.

The word 'Good' in Genesis 1:31 in Hebrew is 'טוֹב' (tov). This word has many meanings according to the context it is in. Here, it means a state of grace, beauty, and harmony; it underlines the Creator’s own assessment of His handiwork.

"The creation should please its Creator"
