DAY 3 OF 13

Something Started Growing Again

In 2020, wildfires tore through Big Basin Redwoods in California. Trees that had stood for two thousand years were blackened down to the trunk. Sadly, people drove through the park afterward and called it a total loss.

A few weeks later, something nobody expected: little green shoots pushing up through the ash. The fire couldn’t reach the roots.

That’s Judges 16:22: But the hair on his head began to grow again after it had been shaved.

Samson was in prison with his eyes gouged out and chained to a grinding wheel. Mocked by the same people who used to fear him. And then we have this phrase: his hair began to grow again. It’s not really about the hair. It’s about everything the hair represented—his vow, his calling, his connection to God. Something started growing back in him that the Philistines couldn’t see.

If you’ve ever blown it or made poor decisions, hear this carefully. Your worst chapter doesn’t get to write the last one! The roots are still there. Cry out, even if your prayer is just: “One more time, God!” That’s all Samson had left, and God met him there.

Pray

Lord, I’m tired of pretending I haven’t drifted. Grow back what I let die. I’m Yours, please bring new life again! Amen.

About this Plan

Imperfect

The people God used most weren’t the polished ones. Samson compromised. Moses ran. Gideon hid in a winepress. They lied, raged, doubted, and drifted—yet each one ended up at the center of what God was doing. Over the next 13 days, we’ll walk through their stories and discover what God does with imperfect people who finally show up.
