Reading the Bible can feel intimidating sometimes. But one simple way of studying Scripture is called S.O.A.P. It stands for "Scripture," "Observation," "Application," and "Prayer." We'll show you how—it's easy!
S: Scripture
If you haven't already, read today's passage of Scripture. Then summarize it in your own words.
O: Observation
Read Romans 12:1–3 again.
- What does this passage say about how we should think and live?
- What warnings does it give about the way we see ourselves?
- What types of changes does God invite us into?
A: Application
Where does pride tend to show up in your life?
What patterns and behaviors do you tend to conform to?
What would it look like for you to let God shape the way you think about yourself?
P: Prayer
Talk with God about the pressure you feel to measure up to others. Ask for help with a new way of thinking about yourself. Thank God for showing you examples of humility in Scripture.

About this Plan

Sometimes the issue isn’t effort—it’s direction. Real change often begins with small, honest shifts in our habits, attitudes, and choices. Scripture shows how God invites us to pivot when our way isn’t working, leading to renewal and growth. In this series, students will see that God can turn our arrogance into humility, God can turn our cruelty into kindness, God can turn our selfishness into generosity, and God can turn our brokenness into wholeness.
