At the end of every week, we'll give you a challenge—something to try that might be outside your regular routine. Each challenge is designed to help you develop one important spiritual habit. This week, it's...
SPEND TIME WITH GOD
There's no formula or one right way to spend time with God. Whether you already know how you like to spend time with God, or you're still trying to understand how to hear God's voice, today's challenge is going to help you experiment with some new ways of connecting with God. Try it and see what you discover about God—and about yourself, too!
CHALLENGE
It’s easy to get defensive sometimes. Maybe you feel like you need to be right, protect your image, or look better than others. Take a few minutes to slow down and think about moments when you’ve felt that way recently. Then journal about these questions:
- When was a recent moment you felt defensive or needed to prove yourself?
- What were you feeling underneath that reaction? Fear? Loneliness? Something else?
- If you could “put on” humility in that moment, what might you have done differently?
- What’s one situation coming up where you want to practice choosing humility instead?
When you’re done, take a moment to talk to God about what you noticed and ask for help living this out.

About this Plan

Sometimes the issue isn’t effort—it’s direction. Real change often begins with small, honest shifts in our habits, attitudes, and choices. Scripture shows how God invites us to pivot when our way isn’t working, leading to renewal and growth. In this series, students will see that God can turn our arrogance into humility, God can turn our cruelty into kindness, God can turn our selfishness into generosity, and God can turn our brokenness into wholeness.
