Grace: An Easter Devotional

DAY 2 OF 3

SACRIFICE & SALVATION

As we all know, Easter revolves around Jesus' work on the cross, which is God's solution to the biggest issue facing all mankind. Through Christ, God fixed what we could never do—not by ignoring sin, but by fully addressing it.

Because God is holy and just, He cannot disregard or ignore sin. It hurts what He loves, it offends Him, and it needs to be dealt with. And so He offered the answer out of love. Jesus took the penalty we deserved by becoming the sacrifice. According to Isaiah, He was crushed for our transgressions and pierced for our disobedience; the burden that ought to have rested on us was placed on Him.

This implies that our forgiveness is neither temporary nor partial. It's finished. We have complete forgiveness for our past transgressions. As we admit, we are continuously purified in the present. Furthermore, individuals who follow Christ will not be condemned in the future. The grace extended is immeasurable since the cost was enormous.

However, this grace does not permit you to keep sinning. Rather, it demands an attitude of thankfulness, humility, and a desire to live in a way that honors the One who gave all.

The cross proclaims that forgiveness is complete, fully and perfectly complete. We are urged to accept this gift by faith, even though we could never deserve it.

Reflection Questions

  1. What does it mean to you that Jesus carried all your sins—past, present, and future? (Isaiah 53:4–6)
  2. How should complete forgiveness shape the way you live today?
