Day 3: Different Members but Still One Body
Key verse:
“From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”-Ephesians 4:16
Do a quick analysis of your strengths, maybe you are really good at persuading someone, or you are observant, noticing little details, or you can connect with anyone you come into contact with.
And then think about the strength of someone that is close to you, can you see that you differ from that person? If you and that person come together, do you ever lose out if both of you use your strength while busy with a project? Of course not! You are most probably benefitting from each other!
This is how God created us to work, to function together to accomplish what He has called us to do! He gave each individual strengths that we need to grow, prune and develop to go out to where He has called you. He does not expect of us to do EVERYTHING, but He calls us to do something, and the rest of His Church will fill in their gaps. God tells us that we are PART of the Body of Christ, and Christ is the head. You are called to build the Kingdom of God, and you are doing this by functioning in your strengths and not focusing on being someone you were not created to be.
if you are good in structure, do not envy the people around you who can function in chaos, because YOU are necessary in order to build the Kingdom of God. As I Corinthians 12 explains, the WHOLE body is needed, so you as maybe the hands shouldn’t try to be like the person next to you who is created to be hands.
It is important for you to know what is in your hands otherwise you won’t be able to give. Get to know your own strengths, your skills and interests. everything has been woven into your being by the God who created you. He has called you for a mission, which means He has equipped you, or is still teaching you what is needed for you.
Reflection/Activation
Identify 4 of your skills.
Ask God what is specific things He has woven into you that will help you a goal that you have?
Prayer:
Thank you Jesus that you chose us to be part of your Body. Thank you that each one of us has a function and calling you have woven into each one of us. Jesus I pray that you will reveal each one of us the treasures you have placed in us in order for us to work together as a team, building and uplifting each other up as we build your Kingdom. Amen
