Day 1:Why can/should I contribute?
Key verse:
'And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” -Matthew 4:19
When Jesus called His first disciples, He issued a simple, profound invitation: "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men."
This same invitation stands for us today. It is a calling to two great actions: to know Him and to make Him known.
As a Rabbi to His followers, Jesus was more than just a teacher. The traditional Rabbinic method was one of total immersion: the teacher would demonstrate every lesson and then empower the disciples to practice it under supervision. This meant the student was equipped with everything the teacher knew. Therefore, being a disciple of Jesus means learning from your Teacher and then faithfully putting into practice everything He has shown us, especially how to love.
Love reveals a crucial truth: we cannot live for ourselves. If we truly have faith in Jesus, our deep love for Him will naturally flow outward into an active, genuine love for others.
Scripture teaches us that faith without works is dead.
True belief inevitably produces visible fruit that demonstrates the sincerity of our convictions. Genuine faith always yields obedience to the teachings of Jesus Christ, shining like a light for the world to see.
Reflection/Activation
Ask:Are you contributing and living out your faith in some way?
Can i truly be a disciple of jesus and not live a life of contribution?
Activation: start preparing your hearts and make time to journey on the theme of being an active disciple.
Prayer:
Lord, shape my heart into the same heart that you have. Let me desire to follow you with all my heart and teach me your ways so that i can have a heart to contribute to others. Amen.
